Questions, unexpected behaviour, or something that could work better? Email Boryn support.
If the link does not open an email app, copy the address into your preferred email service.
For a useful report, include your Boryn version and build (Settings → About), iOS version, what you expected, and the steps that led to the problem.
Please leave out account numbers, card details, balances, and other sensitive financial information. Redact screenshots and review any logs before sharing them.
TestFlight feedback
If you already have a TestFlight build, you can also send feedback through the TestFlight app. Select Boryn and use its feedback option. Check screenshots and attachments for personal information before submitting.
TestFlight feedback and diagnostics are handled through Apple. See the privacy policy’s Apple services section for more information.
Setting up automation
Boryn supports manual entry and user-configured Shortcuts workflows. It does not connect directly to your bank or read Wallet, Mail, or notifications itself.
Wallet transactions
- In Apple’s Shortcuts app, create a personal automation using the Wallet Transaction trigger for the card you want to track.
- Add Boryn’s Add Transaction action and set its source to Wallet.
- Map the trigger’s Amount and Merchant fields. Map Name and Account when available.
- Choose automatic execution where supported, and test the workflow with a transaction.
Availability and background behaviour depend on your card, device, region, and iOS version. Wallet capture uses Boryn’s configured Main Currency.
Email workflows
Get Prompt provides instructions for an extraction workflow you configure in Shortcuts. Supply the email content separately to your chosen model, then pass the resulting JSON array to Add Transaction with Email as the source. Boryn itself does not read your mailbox or run that model. Review the privacy practices of every service you use.
When a transaction needs review
Open Review from Home to resolve incomplete information or possible duplicates. You may need to select an account, assign a category, add a required note, or correct a currency mismatch.
Unknown account names are not automatically turned into new accounts. Map the name to an existing account or create the appropriate account through Review. Transactions with an account currency mismatch need correction before they affect that account’s balance.
Backing up and restoring
Use Boryn’s Backup & Restore screen to create a backup. Current portable backups use the .borynbak extension and appear in Files under On My iPhone → Boryn → Backups.
To add an existing backup, copy its .borynbak file into that folder. Open the backup in Boryn to inspect its preview before restoring. Restoring replaces the current local data and settings with the selected backup.
Backups are not encrypted. Keep copies private and choose storage and sharing destinations carefully. Deleting a backup leaves the current ledger unchanged; deleting transactions does not remove copies you have exported.
